Jaguar Land Rover To Make Future Infotainment Tech With Intel

Amidst all the glitz and glamour of the LA Auto Show, and the new F-Type Coupe and Range Rover Autobiography Black, Jaguar Land Rover issued a small gem of a press release.

Jaguar Land Rover already have a pretty decent infotainment system in its cars.  Some journalists say it's complicated but they are mad.  I've tried it in all JLR models and it's easier to use, and nicer, than almost all others.

Despite that the company isn't rating on its laurels and is getting together with Intel to build a Technology Research & Development Centre in Portland, Oregon in the US.

The location has been chosen due to its proximity to Silicon Valley and Intel's own Intel Labs.  The aim is to, "explore and develop next-generation digital vehicle prototypes with in-vehicle cockpit experiences that connect car, device and cloud."

The Portland R&D Centre will open in 2014 and will complement JLR's existing £100million “National Automotive Innovation Campus” at Warwick University.
