Having just seen the new Harley Davidsons and felt slightly sick it was rather good of Ducati to give us an antidote in the form of the new Monster 1200.
The lattice frame is much smaller than in earlier Monsters (the engine being a stressed member) and that exhaust pipework is a work of art. The single sided swing arm remains.
As well as the Monster 1200 there's a Monster 1200S.
The engine is an 11° V-twin and produces 135bhp and 87 lb ft of torque in the 1200 and 145bhp and 92 lb ft in the 1200S.
The bike weighs 182kg and has a 6-speed gearbox. ABS and traction control are fitted as standard.
The Ducati Monster 1200 will cost £10,695 and the 1200S will be £12,995, which is a huge hike in price for 10bhp.
