Red Bull has announced that Daniel Ricciardo will race alongside Sebastian Vettel in 2014.
Mark Webber announced back in June that he was leaving Red Bull to race for Porsche in LMP1 (but we knew that anyway).
Now, as expected, Dr Helmut Marko has announced that Daniel Ricciardo has signed to race for Red Bull in F1.
Ricciardo last won a championship in 2009 when he won the British F3 title. He raced in Formula Renault 3.5 in 2010 where he won 4 races and missed the title by 2 points.
In 2011 he raced 12 times in Formula Renault 3.5 and 11 times in F1 for the HRT team. He was also Torro Rosso's test driver.
In 2012 Ricciardo raced full time in F1 for Toro Rosso. He scored 10 points and was beaten by his team-mate, Jean-Eric Verge who scored 18.
So far in 2013 Ricciardo has scored 12 points (to Vergne's 13).
The facts might look as though Vergne should replace Webber but Ricciardo's race craft has been pretty blinding during his time in F1.
And it doesn't hurt that he's an Aussie.
