Renault Alpine will be making a sports car, in partnership with Caterham. The Nº. 36 race car will be Alpine's first outing as a brand at Le Mans in 35 years.
The car will enter the LMP2 category and looks like an evolution of the Nissan customer car that was raced last year by, amongst others, Martin Brundle. Indeed the 500bhp V8 powerplant is a Nissan unit.
The Nº. 36 Alpine has a 6 speed X-trac gearbox, weighs 900kg and has a top speed of 205mph, important for the long straights at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
