13 different models of car have been entered from 11 different marques, although the only manufacturer entries are MG and Honda. The champions on the grid will be Jason Plato, Colin Turkington, Matt Neal and current champ, Gordon Sheddon.
Brits will be able to view the BTCC on ITV. The channel has signed a contract to host BTCC until at least 2017 meaning viewers will see all the races live on ITV4, ITV4 HD and online, and a one hour highlights programme later in the week.
A new feature this year will be Dunlop soft compound tyres which the cars will be able to use for one of the three races on a race day. The soft tyres will be grippier, so boosting the performance of the car for that race. The only exception will be at Thruxton where the tyres wouldn't last long through the fast Village and Church corners.
