These spy shots of the 2013 Porsche 991 Turbo were taken in the West of Ireland earlier today. On first impressions it's pretty obvious the car is a 911 but closer inspection reveals several differences between the current 991 and this.
The current evolution of the 911 is only available in Carrera and Carrera 4 guises at the moment. There is no Turbo as yet - it's still undergoing testing and evaluation by Porsche - and these photos are the very latest shots of it.
Take a close look at the front of the car. The indicators are set in a completely different location to those in the 991 Carrera. The grille and bumper are heavily disguised but are again different from the current 911.
The air intakes ahead of the rear wheels may or may not be dummies - Porsche have a history of using them on test mules but with the Turbo's extra power comes extra cooling requirement so they may evolve into something more subtle.
At the rear the wheel arches are slightly wider and the lights slightly larger. Take a look at that rear spoiler which, along with the raked rear end, looks a lot like the old 928.
The engine in the Turbo is rumoured to be a tri-turbo 3.8 litre flat six running something in the order of 530bhp.
Thanks to Barry Whelan for the shots and for @Wozzy2909 bringing them to our attention.
