And now Porsche have introduced a new model to the range, the Cayenne Turbo S. The engine is a twin turbo 4.8 litre V8 with 550bhp, 750Nm of torque and will sprint from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 175mph.
Fuel consumption is quoted at 24.6mpg, which is amazing given the power and weight, but almost certainly not achievable in real world conditions.
Extra electronic bits over the, now pov-spec, Turbo include Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control which reduces the roll angle in corners and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus which basically helps with traction. The Turbo S also gets ,the Sport Chrono package as standard.
Exterior changes include 21 inch wheels with exclusive Turbo S centre badges plus high-gloss black air inlet grilles, headlight housings and mirrors.
It's a pity Porsche have only supplied photographs of the Turbo S in white - a colour which suits some cars but not really this one. In our opinion they need to downplay the image of footballers car (to our international readers, English football players have a reputation of having no taste and of buying flashy cars just to show off their wealth). A lovely Agate Grey Metallic would have suited the car much better - and would attract prospective Range Rover buyers over to the Cayenne. A white Cayenne just looks slightly vulgar.
Having said that the interior is sensational in contrasting red and black.
The Cayenne Turbo S will cost £107,460 and will be available from January 2013.
