Schumacher's 1991 Jordan F1 car for sale

In 1991 Eddie Jordan's regular driver, Bertrand Gachot. had been thrown into prison (for spraying CS Gas into the eyes of a taxi driver).  Eddie desperately needed a replacement for the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix.  The young Schumacher was already signed to race with Mercedes in sportscars but, after a test drive in the Jordan 191, Jordan was so impressed he insisted Schumacher be in the car for Spa.

Mercedes paid Jordan $150,000 and Schumacher qualified seventh at Spa in the Jordan 191.  He dropped out of the race on the first lap with clutch problems but the young German had done enough.  Immediately snapped up by Flavio Briatori and the rest, as they say, is history.

That same Jordan 191, until now part of Eddie Jordan's private collection, is for sale.  The price is undisclosed.

One of the most beautiful F1 cars of all time the Jordan 191, designed by Gary Anderson, comes complete with a Cosworth V8 and the iconic Irish Green with 7UP sponsorship livery.

The buyer will have the car formally handed over by Eddie Jordan himself and certification documents will be signed by Michael Schumacher.

What an amazing opportunity for the lucky individual with enough funds to buy one of the most important examples of recent F1 history.

Eddie is selling lots of old Jordan memorabilia including Damon Hill's 198 F1 race car and various trophies including the 1998 Spa winners trophy.  You can see the whole collection here.
